Standard Working Hours
In view of the highly complicated and far-reaching
"Standard Working Hours" legislation, the Association
has been making persistent efforts to advocate how the
regulation of working hours will negatively impact Hong
Kong's labour market and the economy.
The Association organized a get-together luncheon with
Mr. Matthew Cheung, Secretary for Labour and Welfare,
to exchange views on various labour matters. We took this
opportunity to relay our views to the Government, asking
it to adopt a vigilant approach in conducting relevant
assessments before regulating working hours.
Views on Other Legislations and Government
Policies
The Sub-Committee also formulated positions on a range
of draft legislations and government policies that are
significant to the retail trade with far-reaching implications
for businesses and consumers alike. They included:
Review on Hong Kong’s Discrimination Law
2015 Policy Address and 2015-16 Budget
Voluntary Health Insurance Scheme
Guidance on Persona Data Protection in Cross-Border
Data Transfer
Proposed Regulation of Edible Fats and Oils and
Recycling of “Waste Cooking Oils”
