Advocating Sustainable Retail Development
To maintain regular dialogue with the Government,
the Association has maintained close ties with various
government bureaux. Over the year, the Executive
Committee held six get-togethers with top government
officials.
The Association was honoured to have invited Mr. John
Tsang, Financial Secretary, in November 2014 for a
get-together luncheon, whereby Executive Committee
members reflected valuable views to Mr. Tsang about the
need to formulate industry-related policies and strategies
to assist the long term development of the retail industry.
In the face of the Occupy Movement and anti-parallel
trading protests since late 2014, the Association pledged
the Government to implement timely measures to alleviate
difficulties facing retailers, as their businesses have been
seriously affected, especially SME retailers.
Government Regulations
Sub-Committee
Despite a sluggish performance in the retail sector,
the Sub-Committee continued to make enormous
efforts throughout the reporting year to advocate the
Government on policies, legislation and regulatory
matters in order to foster the sustainable development
of the industry by reflecting members’ interest.
