Another key initiative is the Earn & Learn Pilot Scheme for the Retail Industry
(the Scheme), which was jointly launched by the Association and the Vocational
Training Council (VTC) in 2014. The Scheme aims to recruit DSE graduates who
are interested in pursuing their career in retailing, allowing young people to learn
in the workplace and equip themselves with all necessary skills to join the retail
industry.
Starting from the academic year in 2015-16, we will offer both Foundation
Diploma (FD) and Higher Diploma (HD) programmes for DSE students. So far,
we’ve received an encouraging response from retail employers, with over 1,100
jobs for both FD and HD programmes made available by over 30 companies
covering 77 brands. We welcome this pool of bright new talent to join our
industry.
On the events front, the 7
th
Retail Conference was successfully held on 20 May
with nearly 800 guests in attendance. We also offered our associate members an
opportunity to reach out to the attending retailers this year by setting up a booth
at the conference venue to introduce their services and products. We are pleased
to see the Retail Conference growing into a platform for retailers to exchange
their thoughts and insights.
The Association’s 32
nd
Annual General Meeting (AGM) will be held on 9 October
at the JW Marriott Hotel. We invited Mr. Philip Yung, the Permanent Secretary
for Commerce and Economic Development (Commerce, Industry & Tourism), as
our guest speaker at the AGM Luncheon. Mr. Yung will share his insight on the
Government’s blueprint for economic development, including tourism and its
implications on the retail industry.
Finally, the Association’s Annual Salary Survey of Retail Staff is also underway.
The purpose of this survey is to provide a comprehensive overview on the latest
salary trends of various frontline and managerial retail staff in Hong Kong. We
will consolidate all the data collected and publish a report as for our members’
reference. I invite all member companies to contribute to this meaningful survey
by returning the completed questionnaire to us.

售業各類前線及管理職位的最新薪酬趨勢。
我們將會整理收集所得的數據,並編制報告
供會員參考,希望各位會員能踴躍支持,填
寫及交回問卷。
