Connected with staff
Create a Happy Working Environment
Facing the challenge of staff recruitment and retention, the Ocean Park has
been able to maintain a relatively low staff turnover rate over the years. The
Park even has couples, siblings and family members from three generations as
their staff members. Ms. Mimi Fu, Learning & Development Director, Human
Resources Division, pointed out that the Park has been focused on "Internal
Marketing" as their key people management strategy, that is to make sure that
the staff is "emotionally connected" to the Park. This cannot be done without
the active participation and continuous support by the top management, for
example, sending personal thank-you notes to cheer up individual staff from
time to time. She also emphasized that staff can work at their best if the
company creates a "happy environment" for them.
Training Programmes
To promulgate a learning culture
Mr. Gavin Lam, Senior Retail Operations Manager, also shared his experience to
promulgate the learning culture within the Ocean Park. Through different training
programmes, Ocean Park aims to enhance the communication between colleagues
from different age groups. Mr. Lam recapped an unforgettable experience of a
3-day outdoor team building activity. To encourage all his team members to join
this training which normally would not be the case, Mr. Lam chose to stay behind
at the office to take care the daily business. The whole team learnt a lot and
enjoyed very much this experience.

海洋公園仍然一直能夠保持低員工流失率,甚至
有夫妻、兄弟姊妹及三代同堂的員工。海洋公園
培訓及發展總監符譯文小姐指出,現時人力資源

使企業與員工在情感上互相連結,有助挽留員
工。要達到此目標,管理層的積極參與及持續支
持是不可缺少的,例如由總裁親自撰寫及贈送心
意咭。 同時,企業亦需要為員工建立一個愉快
的工作環境,才能充份發揮員工的工作效率。
培訓項目
提升學習氣氛
海洋公園高級零售營運經理林德進先生亦分享
他們會通過不同的培訓項目,以提升前線員工
的學習氣氛,發揮潛能及加強不同年齡層的同
事之間的溝通。有一次公司舉辦三天的戶外培
訓,若要派大量前線員工同時參加培訓,對公
司來說是很難安排的。林先生要同事放心參
與,他會駐守在公司。最終各位同事都表示這
次培訓有好大得著。
Tour to Ocean Park
海洋公園考察團
A delegation of 24 members paid a visit to the Ocean Park on 13 April to learn more about
their staff engagement programme, followed by a guided tour to the brand new "Adventure
in Australia" area and enjoyed dinner at Neptune Restaurant, while they freely exchanged their
ideas on staff engagement as well as the latest trend of the retail market.
