In the face of volatile business environment, how can a
company maintain sustainable growth? Mr. Sunny Lo shared
a few keys to success. First, he said, we need "Heat" to make
our staff feel warm. The next is "Catalyst" which means a company should encourage
staff by sharing achievements with them. The third one is "Trial & Error" which means
a company should inspire its staff to embrace failure and learn from the experience.
The fourth one is that an appropriate amount of "Pressure" is a driving force to its
staff. A company should also attach great importance to the work-life balance, that
is, "Equilibrium". The sixth one is "Silicon Dioxide" which is one of the elements to
make glasses. This means a company should be transparent and there should be frank
communication between senior and junior levels of staff. The last one is chemical
element "Hg", i.e. mercury. It symbolizes that a company should evaluate itself from
time to time to make self-improvement like one facing a mirror. Mr. Lo viewed that a
strong team, together with inheritance of culture and expertise, would help a company
grow sustainably.

Mr. Tom Chan invited guest speakers to share their keys to
success during times of adversity.
All guests viewed that by keeping a positive attitude despite challenges, one can
comprehend the whole situation and devise the strategy accordingly. In addition, a
leader should keep an open mind and listen to different opinions. It was agreed that
working along with team members can help work out solutions. They shared views that
modern management models give strong emphasis on communication with the staff,
and staff-driven initiatives will allow staff members to unleash their creativity.
All guests agreed that omni-channel sales involve changes in customers' shopping
behaviour, and this is an irreversible trend. Before developing their online sales
channel, brick-and-mortar retailers should consider how this can benefit their
customers.
