Spurred by new technology and innovation, e-commerce and omni-channel retailing
have been growing so rapidly that retailing industry across the globe has seen dramatic
transformation in its mode of operation. It has become necessary that our retailers
should ride along with the trend. With a view to helping our members keep abreast
of the times and explore new opportunities, the Association has worked incessantly in
2016 to strengthen the adoption of retail-related technology. Its objective is to uplift the
competitiveness of the territory's retail industry through diversified initiatives.
Along with winning government support, the Association has actively extended its network
of collaboration to cover major international e-commerce giants such as Alibaba, Baidu
and Google. Its purpose is to provide our members with exclusive benefits and up-to-
date insights about e-tailing business. This has helped our members develop their online
shopping business.
Between 10 and 14 November, the Association joined forces with Alibaba Group and
Federation of Hong Kong Industries to launch the first CEO training programme at Taobao
University. During the programme, several e-commerce elites and notable lecturers of the
University gave talks in Hong Kong on the present development in e-commerce ecosystem,
and offered advices about online e-commerce operations. A site visit was also arranged
