Regenerating Retail Talent Development
People are the most important asset in retail. To build up and
sustain a quality workforce, it requires retailers’ long term
commitment to devote resources in manpower development,
no matter in good or bad times. The current business downturn
provides an impetus for retailers to review its service standard,
identify gaps and pitfalls in operation, and implement staff
development to prepare them for greater challenges ahead.
This year, the Association spared no effort to uplift the industry’s
overall professionalism through education and training activities,
with a special focus to helping members to regenerate their
staff force. In this regard, we have strengthened ties with the
Education Bureau and various education institutes, and have
reinforced communication with members to understand their
evolving needs on manpower development.
About the Qualifications Framework (QF), we witness good
progress on the Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) since its
launch in 2014. More retailers are now aware of the value of
RPL and show interest to promote it to their staff. To encourage
retailers to develop QF accredited in-house training, we
continue to pledge the Hong Kong Council for Accreditation of
Academic and Vocational Qualifications (HKCAAVQ) to ease the
accreditation process and the required annual review. We hope
to see fruitful results very soon.
促進零售業人才發展
人才是零售業最重要的資產。要建立及維持一
支優秀的精英團隊,不論市況好壞,實有賴零
售商長期在人才發展上投放資源。目前營商環
境欠佳,正是讓零售商審視其服務水平及找出
營運落差及隱憂的良機。零售商亦應藉此機會
推行員工發展計劃,讓員工為未來更大的挑戰
作好準備。
本年度,協會不遺餘力繼續透過教育及培訓活
動,提升零售業整體的專業水平,尤其協助公
司會員推行員工發展計劃。在這方面,協會已
與教育局及多間教育機構加強合作,與公司會
員積極溝通,瞭解它們在人才發展方面不斷變
化的需求。
在「資歷架構」方面,自「過往資歷認可」於
2014年推行以來,一直取得良好進展。越來越
多零售商現已瞭解「過往資歷認可」的價值,
並表示有興趣向員工推廣。為了鼓勵零售商制
訂獲「資歷架構」認可的內部培訓計劃,協會
繼續與香港學術及職業資歷評審局商討,望能
簡化學歷評估程序及年度評審工作。協會希望
不久將會取得豐碩的成果。
為了以全新及獨一無二的競爭優勢應付未來的
挑戰,並為零售業注入新動力,協會仍然認
為,當務之急是要建立一套生態系統,推動香
港電子零售業蓬勃發展。於本報告年內,協會
不但積極促請政府在政策上支持零售業,而且
透過交流活動及與國際著名電子商貿巨企合作
舉行多元化的活動,以提高零售商在電子零售
方面的意識。
展望未來,協會將加強與不同持份者合作,加
快發展上述零售生態系統,尤其在科技應用上
協助零售同業無縫整合網上與實體業務。
協會即將舉辦的相關活動,實在需要會員繼續
支持及參與。有賴會員積極參與及承諾,香港
零售業才能繼續保持其競爭優勢,更迎合顧客
的期望,並為香港帶來整體利益。
To survive the challenges ahead and rejuvenate the industry with
new and unique competitive edge, the Association maintains
that there is a great urgent need to build up an ecosystem
conducive to the flourishing of e-tailing in Hong Kong. In this
reporting year, we have forcefully advocated the Government for
policy support; and we have promoted awareness of e-tailing
through networking and a full array of activities by partnering
with international renowned e-Commerce players.
Looking ahead, the Association will strengthen the cooperation
with different stakeholders to speed up the evolvement of the
said ecosystem, in particular, to facilitate fellow retailers in
technology adoption and to build seamless integration of online
and brick-and-mortar business.
We will count on members’ continued support and participation
in the upcoming endeavors in these areas. Only with members’
active involvement and commitment that Hong Kong retail
industry will sustain its competitiveness, stay close to our
shoppers’ expectations and bring benefits to Hong Kong at
large.
