Shiu states that Hong Kong retailers of such products as daily necessities, food,
cosmetics, electronic and electrical appliances, and luxury goods continue
to enjoy the upper hand in quality nowadays. Notwithstanding that online
shopping is getting more popular, Hong Kong is after all a city in which shops
are in the vicinity of residential areas. So it also provides retailers an edge.
"Imported health supplements, for instance, can be delivered to the door and
cheaper online. But, the marketplace still has room for Hong Kong retailers
because local residents are by and large driven by convenience especially when
it comes to shopping for widely available daily products," he explains, adding
that building up a brand is the "me too but better" way of survival in retail.
"Product features can be similar but reputation and innovative products will go
a long way."
Driving Economy and Tourism
Shiu believes that the new government will adopt a reconciliation stance and
prioritise economic development and people's livelihood. "Political disputes
abound since the 1997 handover, stirring up waves of negative sentiments,"
he laments. "It is hoped that the new cabinet will make constructive plans
regarding livelihood issues such as housing."
A frontman for the wholesale and retail sector, Shiu also hopes that the
government will step up tourism promotion and support retail development
especially for SMEs so as to help them raise their game.
A self-proclaimed LegCo rookie, Shiu now leads a hectic lifestyle with his fingers in
many pies while also managing a packed business agenda alongside district services
in his parallel role as a member of the Eastern District Council. He even keeps a
set of bedding in this LegCo office so that he could catch up on lost sleep. "One
must do good, help the needy as much as possible and make best efforts," Shiu
concludes with his own motto.
縱觀今天的本港零售市場,邵家輝認為本港的貨品,
尤其是日用品、食品、美容化妝品、電器電子產品及
奢侈品等,依然存有品質保證的優勢。儘管網購漸趨
盛行,但香港畢竟是個小城市,商店鄰近民居,購物
方便,故零售店仍然有大大的存在空間。
「現時有不少市民網購外國進口保健品,因為價錢
較平,還可直送到家中。但仍有很多市民貪方便光
顧本地零售店,尤其日用品之類,落街見到隨手可
買,而且亦視逛街為消遣之一。」雖然如此,建立
品牌、「人有我優」才是營商生存之道:「很多貨
品都差不多,但消費者會揀有信譽的品牌,以及一
些創新的產品。」
發展經濟 推旅遊業
邵家輝相信新一屆的政府將採取大和解的立場,並以
推動香港經濟,解決民生困局為施政大前提,「回歸
以來,政治爭拗不斷,挑撥負面情緒。期望新政府可
以在住屋及民生政策上,有建設性的施政。」
身為批發及零售界的代表,他希望政府能加強推廣
香港的旅遊業,並且支持零售業界發展,尤其是中
小企,同時要支援業界增加應用資訊科技來提升競
爭力。
邵家輝認為自己是議會「新丁」,所以著力關注眾多
議題,同時亦是東區區議員,服務地區市民,加上公
司的業務,每天忙過不停,他甚至在立法會辦事處放
了被舖,方便隨時「補眠」。「人要多做好事,有能
力就去幫助有需要的人,並盡自己的能力,做到最
好。」他以自己的座右銘作結。
