Hong Kong's retail industry had quite a year in 2015. While much attention was
paid to the downward trend of the retail business, the Association took the lead
to invite experts to share their insights on the outlook for 2016 Hong Kong retail
market. The seminar was held on 15 January, 2016, with an attendance of over
200 participants; and we are very honoured to have Savills (Hong Kong) Ltd. as
our gold sponsor.
To kick-start the seminar, Mr. Ricky Choi, Senior Economist, Bank of China (Hong
Kong) Limited, gave us an overview of the global and Hong Kong economic
outlook, he also highlighted the impact of a strong US dollar and the US interest
rate hike on Hong Kong's economy.
Following Mr. Choi's sharing, Mr. Walter Leung, Managing Director, Hong Kong,
Consumer Choices, GfK Retail and Technology Hong Kong Ltd., summed up
the major challenges that Hong Kong retailers are currently facing, and then he
illustrated how retailers can respond to a rapidly-changing sales environment by
driving consumers' satisfaction and growth in sales through innovation.
The last session was a forecast on rental and property price of Hong Kong street
shops and shopping malls by Ms. Kathy Li, Director of Retail Consultancy, Savills
(Hong Kong) Ltd. Considering the slowdown in the number of Mainland visitors
and the weak retail sales growth, there will be a structural change in Hong Kong's
shop rental and property prices. According to Savills' forecast, prime street shop
rental will drop by 10% - 15% in 2016, while rents in major shopping centres will
remain reasonably strong with a growth up to 5% in 2016.

費者選擇董事總經理梁宏達先生,向零售商分享
如何透過創意去應對多變的銷售環境,在提升顧
客滿意度的同時,亦能增加銷售額。
最後,由第一太平戴維斯(香港)有限公司零
售諮詢顧問部董事李婉茵女士與大家探討未
來零售物業租金及價格。鑒於內地旅客訪港數
字持續下降以及零售銷售額下跌,香港零售物
業市場將會出現一個結構性調整。李女士分享
其公司分析結果,預測香港的一線地舖租金於
2016
年將會下跌百分之十到十五;而主要商場
租金則會保持不多於百分之五的升幅。
