Enhancing Role in Representing Retail
Trade
This year, we continued to pursue open dialogues
with the Government to reflect the industry concerns
over the eroding competitiveness of Hong Kong.
In addition to advocating the industry's view through
submissions to the Legislative Council and the
Government, we maintained ongoing discussions
with top officials of a number of Government
bureaux, including the office of Financial Secretary,
Commerce and Economic Development Bureau,
Education Bureau, Environment Bureau, Food and
Health Bureau, Labour and Welfare Bureau, as well
as Tourism Commission. These multi-dimensional
communications helped make sure that our voices
were effectively conveyed and understood.
We made special efforts to address certain key issues,
amongst which labour shortage is one of them. In
our submissions, we proposed the Government to
adopt strategies like relaxing
restrictions on labour import,
and nurturing young talents.
We met with the Minimum
Wa g e C omm i s s i o n a n d
reflected the facts on how the
minimum wage regulation has
been negatively impacting
all sectors over the past
years. We also expressed our
concerns that the proposed
standard working hours could
further aggravate the labour
shortage and weaken our
competitiveness.
提升代表性 為零售業發聲
於本年度，協會與政府保持緊密連繫，反映在香港競爭
力逐漸下跌的經濟環境下，業界所面對的營商困境。
協會透過意見書與及不同渠道，向立法會及政府反映業
界的情況，並積極與高級官員保持密切溝通、包括財政
司司長辦公室、商務及經濟發展局、教育局、環境局、
食物及衛生局、勞工及福利局，以及旅遊事務署等，確
保有效地向相關政府部門傳達零售業的聲音，讓政府理
解零售商當前的實際處境和挑戰。
協會致力倡議與業界息息相關的問題，尤其是長期勞工
短缺的現象。協會建議政府放寬輸入勞工的限制，並大
力培育本地青年人才。透過與最低工資委員會會面，反
映近年來最低工資法例對各行業所帶來的負面影響。協
會亦表達對標準工時立法規管的關注，認為此項法例會
進一步加劇勞工短缺問題，削弱香港的競爭力。
